The JDI is excited to announce a number of conferences this upcoming year on the Queen's campus.

Conference on Financial Intermediation and Regulation--Joint event with the Bank of Canada and the John Deutsch Institute

The workshop will bring together researchers interested in developing a deeper understanding of the industrial organization of financial markets, financial design and regulation. The focus will be on using model-driven empirical approaches to learn more about the structure of banks, banking markets and their interactions.

JDI conference on the Economics of Sustainability
Dates: October 20-21, 2017
Location: Queen's University
Organizers: Christopher Cotton and John Hartwick

The two day conference, organized by the John Deutsch Institute and the Department of Economics, will bring together some of the world's leading researchers working on environmental sustainability, natural resource economics, and the greening of the national account. The occasion will mark the 40th anniversary of the Hartwick Rule for sustainability, and the conference will include an evening in honour of Professor John Hartwick, who has spent his remarkable career at Queen's.

Canadian Public Economic Group (CPEG) annual meetings
Date: November 3-4, 2017
Location: Queen's University

The Department of Economics and the John Deutsch Institute are hosting the CPEG annual meetings, which brings together economists working in all areas of public economics and policy research. The conference is expected to attract leading researchers from across canada and internationally, and to include presentations and discussion of research in the areas of public finance and tax policy, education and social policy, and political economy, among other fields. CPEG is an affiliated group of the Canadian Economic Association.
